Families are invited for a fitness-based story time with Stretch-n-Grow. Bring a towel, blanket or yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. 

An all-ages story time with stories, dancing, and singing. No registration required, first come, first serve up to 75 

Create your own dinosaur, zombie, or dinosaur vs. zombie terrarium. These mini eco-systems will include live plants. Kids will be taught how to keep their dino-zombie-rarium alive. 

Staff from the YMCA’s Mobile Kitchen will guide you through cooking a nutritious meal and share tips and tricks for healthy cooking on a budget. 

Artist Sigrid Hice will lead kids in creating a spiral artist book with colorful book covers. Let your imagination fly across the pages with drawings, writing, or collages. 

Join the staff of Partners for courses on mental health topics the third Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm. Continuing Education hours can be provided.

Beat the heat and find your calm at the library’s Zen Den! This relaxing space is designed to help you slow down and refresh during the busy summer months.

Watch Jurassic Park, the Academy Award winning movie from 1993 that started a film series that now spans seven blockbuster features. Free seating available at Carolina Movie Theater until all seats are filled. No tickets required. 

Get ready for the Critter Keeper, an animal show for those not-faint-at-heart, offering a unique look at insects, reptiles, and a python. 

Take part in a multicultural book discussion that explores equality through books that tackle race, gender, and other important social issues. New members are always welcome. 

Facilitated by Hickory Poet Laureate Scott Owens, this monthly group will include all things poetic: sharing, discussion, prompts, critiques and workshops.

Celebrate Juneteenth with a community-led story time. Bring your family and friends to hear stories and enjoy music, dance, and crafts as we celebrate the freedom accomplished and the freedom to come! 

Participants will learn chess basics, strategies, and tactics by playing with other chess enthusiasts in the community. All skill levels, from beginners to champions, are welcome.

Join us for a step-by-step acrylic painting event! Unwind and get creative in a relaxed environment. Each participant will create a summer beach scene on stretched canvas. Presented by local artist, Jamie Pereira.

Local artist Lauren Jordan will show you how to use your phone or tablet to create digital concept sketches to bring your ideas to life! Come to this workshop prepared with an idea of an object or image you want to create.
