Week Calendar

Families are invited for a fitness-based story time with Stretch-n-Grow. Bring a towel, blanket, or yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. In the event of rain, story time will be moved indoors and limited to two 15-minute story time sessions.

Jingle de Niet will lead a free yoga class that focuses on breath, gentle poses, and meditation. Join her on the Library Lawn for a practice towards complete wellness of both body and mind. Bring water and a yoga mat or towel.

An all-ages story time with stories, dancing, and singing. Attendance is limited to 75.

Join us at Taft Broome Park for stories, songs, and hands-on STEAM activities for young scientists. Bring a blanket or towel to sit on.

In the event of rain, story time will be held inside Ridgeview Branch Library. 

Friends of the Library members and the general public are invited to the Friends Annual Meeting. After a brief business meeting, hear from author Rhonda Browning White about her novel Filling the Big Empty.

Birds have captured the imagination of humans for thousands of years. In this program presented by the Carolina Raptor Center, the audience will learn what sets raptors apart as a unique species with the help of several avian ambassadors.

Poetry springs hilariously to life as soon as Matt Sandbank's shadow puppets hit the screen! A Wild Goose Chase introduces the fun and whimsy of poetry with a collection of short, interactive skits.

Use ice and fabric dye to create a tie-dye effect on cotton fabric. We will provide a tote bag, but you can bring a white, 100% cotton t-shirt to dye instead. 

Move and shake through art! Staff from Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts will lead classes on a different style of dance each week based on a painting from a famous artist.

Saddle up and bring your fans! Learn step-by-step moves from instructor Maria Phillips-Robinson in this fun Trail Ride style line dance class. 

All experience levels welcome.

Crafters unite at our monthly meetup! Bring your work(s) in progress and meet fellow creators, exchange ideas, and explore the various equipment The Learning Lab has to offer. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month.  

Learn about the history of Juneteenth before attending one of the many celebrations happening all across Catawba County. Members of the Hickory NAACP will lead a meaningful, community focused conversation about Juneteenth.

We will be visited by local botanical cultivator, The Flower Fairy, who will talk about how to keep your cut flowers fresher longer, what varieties last the longest, and growing your own flowers. Then, build your own bouquet to take home!
