The library invites young readers to improve their reading skills by reading to a licensed therapy dog. This fun opportunity will help build fluency and confidence. Sign up for a half hour appointment to start your Paws journey. Caregivers are required to stay in the room during the appointment.

Arrive five minutes before session time. If for any reason arrival is after 10 minutes from session time, your appointment will be cancelled.

This joint program from Hickory Public Library and City of Hickory Sports, Recreation & Sports Tourism will introduce you to great hikes and parks in our area. Hickory Hikers is open to all ages and experience levels but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Register on the Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism website. The Learning Lab

The Learning Lab is available to library patrons ages 7 and up. An adult must accompany users younger than age 12 at all times. A current Hickory Public Library card is required to use Learning Lab equipment. Patrons must sign the user agreement policy and participate in a free orientation session conducted by library staff before using the Lab.
