Program Description

Event Details

Explore Hickory over the last 100 years through the memories contained in Ridgeview, Claremont, and Hickory High School yearbooks from our library’s local history collection. We urge you to invite friends, family members, current and former staff members and students who would like to connect over our community’s shared history.

The event will start with a presentation on the history of high schools in Hickory, presented by Rhonda Roederer, professional genealogist, educator, and Founder of Heritage with Heart.

After the presentation, Ridgeview, Claremont, and Hickory High School yearbooks will be available to view and discuss with other program attendees.

A scanning event will take place simultaneously! This is an opportunity to add to our community’s collective memory and enrich our archives. You are invited to bring photographs or documents with a connection to Ridgeview, Claremont, or Hickory High School and we will scan your materials and save them to a USB flash-drive for you. Photographs will be added to the library’s Carolina Room local history collection. (USB flash-drives are provided free, while supplies last, to program attendees bringing items to digitize)

Ridgeview, Claremont, or Hickory High School yearbook donations for years that are not in the library collection will be gladly accepted.

See library staff in the adult reference department if you have a yearbook that you would like to donate or to lend for digitizing and have returned to you.
