Program Description
Event Details
Comic book writer Matthew K. Manning will lead a crash course in making a comic book page. The session will detail the process of crafting an initial pitch for a story, outlining the work, writing a script, penciling, inking, coloring, and lettering the artwork, and editing the finished product. Basic storytelling will be discussed, as will various approaches to comic book art. Attendees will then either work from their own story idea or from a page of one of Manning's published scripts. They will thumbnail, layout, pencil, and ink their own comic book page. The finished results will be critiqued by Manning, offering novice comic creators insight into how to professionally craft their stories. The workshop will be followed by a Q&A period and a book signing. Books and comics will be available for purchase at the event.
