Cricut Heat Presses & Sublimation Printer
Library Branch
Patrick Beaver Memorial Library
The Learning Lab features one Cricut EasyPress 2, one Cricut Mug Press, and one Sawgrass SG500 Sublimation Printer.
- Cricut EasyPress 2
- Ceramic-coated 12 X 10-inch press plate
- Press Temperature: up to 400℉
- Fabrics must be at least 65% polyester for sublimation
- Compatible with most major brands of iron-on materials
- Cricut Mug Press
- Mug Sizes: 11 - 16 oz (350 - 470 ml) straight wall only; 82 - 86 mm diameter mugs (3.2 - 3.4 in)
- Straight-wall tumblers under 3.4 inches in diameter can be pressed, however they will be pressed one half at a time due to the height of the press. A silicone sublimation tumbler wrap is required to sublimate tumblers to meet diameter requirements.
- Mugs and tumblers must be labeled "sublimation coated" or "sublimation ready"
Important Information
- Sublimation is not an exact science- fabric type, color, temperature, and time settings can greatly impact final results. We recommend bringing extra project materials to test on for best results.
- If sublimating designs, they must be printed using the Sawgrass Sublimation Printer. Printed images from other printers will not be accepted.
- The cost to print a design is $1.00 per sheet. Sheets are standard copy paper size, 8.5X11 inches.
- If using iron-on materials, the materials must be approved by Learning Lab staff before use.
- Heat transfer tape, parchment paper, and heat-resistant gloves are provided.
- To use the heat presses and sublimation printer, patrons must have a valid Hickory Public Library card and complete a brief orientation to ensure proper use and safety.
Tips
- Higher percentages of polyester in fabrics produce brighter designs.
- Dark-colored materials will not sublimate well, and designs may not show up, so opt for lighter-colored materials for the best results.
