Week Calendar

Participants will learn chess basics, strategies, and tactics by playing with other chess enthusiasts in the community. All skill levels, from beginners to champions are welcome.  

Bring your family and friends to the library to hear new stories and explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through hands-on tinkering. 

Come to the library to celebrate National Mother Goose Day! Story time will include a fun STEAM based project. This program is designed for preschool-aged children but elementary aged children are also welcome. 

You’re invited to join in on a community drum circle and find your rhythm at the library! (No drumming experience needed!) 

Explore Hickory over the last 100 years through the memories contained in Ridgeview, Claremont, and Hickory High School yearbooks from our library’s local history collection.

Drop in to the library and make buttons out of recycled graphic novel pages. 

Enjoy live music performances from local musicians as members of our monthly Songwriting Club perform the musical works they have been writing over the past year.  

Celebrate the start of a colorful summer! We’re kicking off Summer Learning with an outdoor celebration at Taft Broome Park. Fun will include a color splash zone, crafts, DJ, free Kona Ice, and more. 

Families are invited for a fitness-based story time with Stretch-n-Grow. Bring a towel, blanket or yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. In the event of rain, story time will be moved indoors and limited to two 15-minute story time sessions.
